  • Vocabulary Quiz- Graff

  • Finish Right Margin Annotations (RMA)

  • Handout- Descriptive Outlines. Review and chunk the Graff article in small groups. Write 1-2 sentences summarizing each chunk and 1 sentence explaining the chunk's purpose.

Agenda:

Rhetorical Device: Anaphora

  • Finish reviewing the 9 point AP Argument Rubric; go back over the argument prompt. 

  • Read student samples for the argument prompt and score using rubric. Share scores.

Wednesday 9/5

ERWC 

Agenda:  

Day 2 of the Graff Descriptive Outline. You may work in groups (but use different wording) to create your DOs. Make sure to use complete sentences and follow the directions on the Toolbox handout you received yesterday on Descriptive Outlines. This will be stamped at the beginning of class on Thursday.

Agenda:

Finish reading the 2016 Q3 sample essays on the Google Classroom and tally your scores on the board. If you finish early, take the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory and write down your results in your notebook. 

 

Make sure you have your Non-Fiction #1 Project Book for Friday.

Agenda:  

Turn in Graff Article Annotations and Descriptive Outlines. 

Notes on Rhetorical Triangle

 Read the Ethos section of Edlund's "Three Ways to Persuade" on page 29 of your ERWC book.

Agenda:

Discuss student samples and review any questions. 

Timed write: 2008 Q3 argument prompt. You will get 35 minutes in class with this tomorrow, so today was just about brainstorming.

Friday 9/7

ERWC 

Agenda:  

Read John Edlund's "Three Ways to Persuade"- Finish Logos and Pathos section (period 5, you have all three sections to do!). Left Margin Annotate only- use your handout on annotations to help you!

35 minutes- timed write. Turn in the prompt stapled to the back of your timed write. 

Silent Read for the rest of the period. 

Make sure you have your Non-Fiction Project book title in!
